Connecting children to Jesus
"Let the children come to Me." Mark 10:14
our philosophy
At Country Footsteps we aim to create a caring and positive learning environment for all- kaiako, tamariki and whānau. We promote quality care, calm environments and learning through Gods creation in collaboration with the Te Whāriki.
We believe God is love and he displays this unconditional love to us through the person of Jesus. Our preschool is unique because God’s love is our motivation. We want every child to experience the unconditional love of Jesus and believe that they are valuable. The Bible shares God’s story throughout history and is one way we can get to know and understand our loving God.
God has also given his Holy Spirit to be present with us and alongside the Bible this guides us in the best way to live. Our Christian curriculum will endeavour to portray the following characteristics of God:
Unconditional love, Grace, Hope, Faithfulness, other-centered and respect.
Our mission statement and philosophy are founded in the unconditional love of God and desire to share this with our children. We endeavour to connect children with Jesus by demonstrating the character of God through every aspect of Centre life. Jesus said “Let the children come to me” in Luke 18:16a, and we desire to offer every opportunity through our actions and relationships for children to do this.
our values & dispositions
Aroha/Love: We are committed to providing a loving environment where children feel safe and that their wellbeing is nurtured. The tamariki are learning about Gods love for them through active lead learning experiences, whanaungatanga (relationships) where the unconditional love of Jesus is modeled, learning through manaakitanga (hospitality) and nature.
Whakapono/Faith: We believe that children are a unique gift from God with so much to offer, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and that connecting children to Jesus is extremely important. We believe that through faith and learning about Jesus, the tamariki build a solid foundation to become competent, curious and confident learners knowing that Jesus is by their side, thus nurturing a solid Christian foundation.
Whanau/Family: We strongly believe that our tamariki and their whanau all bring knowledge from their cultures, values and aspirations. We want to foster a working partnership collaboratively together, bringing this into our curriculum, through active participation. We are all children of God, part of one big family and we want to celebrate this in our learning environment with our wider whanau and community.
